Camps >>  Weekly Schedules

Each week we will post our schedule of days, themes and events...  Everything applies to Rookie Camp as well as Summer of Fun.  We just offer the thrills and chills in a kinder, gentler fashion for our younger campers...

Week 8 - 8/16-20

Monday, August 16...World's Worst Circus.  And we're not kidding.  In addition to the World's Shortest Giant, Weakest Strong Man and Best Behaved Child, you will thrill to feats of skill and daring. You won't believe the  blindfolded juggling, though we may need you to help retrieve the ball...

Tuesday, August 17...The Sherlock Holmes Great Detective Mystery starring Doriarty.  Now in it's fifth year, this is the scavenger hunt to beat them all.  We will use our brilliant powers of deduction to find the evil genius Doriarty wherever she may be hiding on campus.  Always a highlight of the summer.

Wednesday, August 18...Halloween.  All right, maybe it's a few months early but this is one we certainly do up right.  We'll be trick or treating…with an emphasis on the "tricks."  And our Haunted House is something we plan all year long so you can bet it will be talked about till the real thing rolls along…  (Rookies get to go through with the lights on...)

Thursday, August 19...Human Board Games.  Human Bingo, Hungry Hungry Hippos, Battleship, Tic Tac Toe and Twister will have the campers in the thick of the action.  Don't miss it…

Friday, August 20...Noah's Ark Water Park.  We'll see our campers slipping and sliding two-by-two in a day of torrential fun and merriment.  The place is going to be a zoo!

Week 7 - 8/9-13

Monday, August 9...Spy Kids.  James Bond, Jason Bourne, Evelyn Salt.  What kid doesn't yearn to be a spy?  We'll perfect those tried and true training methods like tiptoeing, slinking and eavesdropping...  Not even our usual dose of water play will be able to dampen the ardor of our mini operatives.

Tuesday, August 10...Cinema Day.  For the fourth year in a row we'll be rolling film on our camp video.  The first three are already enshrined in the Library of Congress's film preservation registry.  Our campers will be the writers, actors and crew.  (Sorry, Coach Steve gets to direct - it's his camp).  With film-themed activities as the backdrop, we expect to capture lightning in a bottle.  Are you ready for your close-up?

Wednesday, August 11...Medieval Times.  We'll climb back into the time machine and emerge at the height of the Middle Ages.  Water jousting, chivalry lessons and eating with fingers - the modern world doesn't know what it's missing.

Thursday, August 12...Cartoon Madness.  While the kids are outside playing, who's inside watching cartoons?  As homage to our campers' favorite "indoor sport," we will be tailoring our contests to the talents of Sponge Bob, Homer Simpson and Phineas and Ferb…

Friday, August 13...Survivor Brentwood.  Test your skill, agility and gross-out quotient in a day of challenges and contests.  Find out who will be voted off our island. Make sure it isn't you.

Week 6 - 8/2-6

Monday, August 2...The SOF Olympics.  We'll march behind the flags of the world and compete in events too esoteric for the quadrenniel event - the water bomb shotput, the pool high jump and bubble-wrap sumo wrestling.  Who will win gold, silver or bronze...?  If it's fun, who cares!

Tuesday, August 3...Mythology Day.  Zeus, Hercules, Aphrodite....all the gods and goddesses will be on hand to bring back the good ol' days of ancient Greece.  It will be a Dionysian good time!

Wednesday, August 4...Star Wars.  As part of our salute to this iconic franchise we will train to be Jedi masters, learn communication skills from R2D2 and get make-over tips from Darth Vader.  Not to be missed.

Thursday, August 5...Dr. Seuss Day.  A whimsical romp through the mind of Theodore Geisel, we will make mischief with Thing One and Thing Two, eat green eggs and ham (or our equivalent which contains no eggs and no ham), and hang while Horton hatches that egg.  A dip in McElligot's pool anyone?

Friday, August 6...Riverworld.  The Mississippi, the Amazon, the Nile, take your pick.  It will be a wet one as we will navigate them all.  Too bad we can't have skateboards on campus, we could zip down the LA River as well!

Week 5 - 7/26-29

Monday, July 26...Name That Tune.  Always a summer highlight.  The auditorium dissolves in pandemonium as campers race for the buzzers to reveal the playing song...  Is it Barney?  Or Justin Bieber?  (They're easily confused)...

Tuesday, July 27...The Amazing Race.  Seemingly in its 80th season, this reality-game show has trans-navigated the globe dozens of times.  This week it will make a stop in Brentwood.  Don't miss it.

Wednesday, July 28...The SOF Grand Prix.  Speed records will fall as we make one endless lap around the campus on our go carts, scooters and Formula One tricycles...  Fasten your seat belt!

Thursday, July 29...80's Video Games.  Pac Man, Donkey Kong, Space Invaders, Pong....  The campers will acquire a new appreciation for these "classics" as they're the ones being eaten, blasted and doused.

Friday, July 30...Goliath Water Slide.  The perfect accompaniment to a hot summer's day.  30' of rushing, falling, splashing and sliding....

Week 4 - 7/19-23

Monday, July 19...Alien Hunt.  With ten billion planets in the universe, are we arrogant enough to think ours is the only one that can host life?  Aliens are definitely out there.  Today our campus will be overrun by them.  How many can you find?

Tuesday, July 20...Mars Landing.  No matter that NASA has pushed back the date of our first manned trip to Mars.  We'll be getting ready regardless.  Watch our campers conquer gravity and immerse themselves in astronaut training, Coast Sports-style...

Wednesday, July 21...Don't Do This At Home.  Our wildest, craziest day of the summer.  Graffitti, spitting, throwing food - it's a regular cavalcade of the outrageous - all topped off by a Human Car Wash.  Not to be missed.

Thursday, July 22...Minute to Win It.  Contests and games that will test your agility, balance, focus and nerve....  The hardest part will to keep from laughing...

Friday, July 23...Apocalypse, Now.  The water war to end all water wars will keep you wet and happy all day long...

Week 3 - 7/12-7/16

Monday, July 12th… Blast From the Past.  We'll climb into our Time Machine to offer our wacky takes on the Cold War, the Space Race, the music of the 60s, the hair of the 80s and more….

Tuesday, July 13th…The All-Star Game, Major League Baseball's mid-summer classic.  We'll be playing baseball (conventional and Frisbee varieties),  kickball and skill contests in all of our other favorite sports…

Wednesday, July 14th…So You Think You Can Dance!  Our annual limbo, hip hop and bubblewrap freeze dance contests…  There'll be booty shakin' all day long.

Thursday, July 15th… Harry Potter Day.  We've got Quiddich, the Womping Willow and Snape's potions to name just a few of our wizardly attractions.

Friday, July 16th…Our trademark celebration of Christmas in July - it's Snow Day.  We've got the hill, we've got the sleds, you bring the smiles...and mittens.

Week 2 - 7/6-7/9

Tuesday, July 6th - we'll import those games from across the Pond - Cricket, Rugby and Rounders - that could have been our national pastimes had the Revolutionary War gone the other way.

Wednesday, July 7thHoliday Day.  Sure, everyone knows Christmas, Hanukkah and Halloween.  But have you ever experienced Jumping Egg Day from the little known nation of Pogo or  Flying Saucer Day from Tiera del Fuego?  We've unearthed some of the world's more obscure holidays and will introduce them to the SOF/Rookie Camp community…

Thursday, July 8th… It's our Third Annual Theme Park Day.  We'll be recreating favorites from Six Flags, Disneyland, Epcot, Raging Waters and more…  Are you brave enough for our tea cups?

Friday, July 9th… We bid a bittersweet farewell to what has been a month-long pageant of sport and spectacle - the World Cup.  We will celebrate the beautiful game with our own relays and contests and end it all with another HUMAN CAR WASH…  Bathing suits are a must.  Water shoes or flip flops are recommended….

Week 1 - 6/28-7/2

Monday, June 28 - 2010's Greatest Hits - join us as we unveil our entire summer in the first day!  We will play 3-team breathbreaker, tight-rope walk over water, tie the world's longest lanyard...and much much more...

Friday, July 2 - A Fractured Fourth - come with us as we take the Fourth of July to new heights of wackiness and irreverence - the George Washington Apple Pie Fight, Thomas Jefferson Tie-dye and Marquis de Lafayette Car Wash.  White shirts for dyeing, bathing suits and towels highly recommended...
