Weekly Schedules
Each week we will post our schedule of days, themes
and events... Everything applies to Rookie Camp as well
as Summer of Fun. We just offer the thrills and chills in a
kinder, gentler fashion for our younger campers...
Week 9 - Hall of Fame Week
Monday, 8/17 - Cinema Day - Lights, camera,
accccction...! Come help us create this year's chapter in the
cinematic story of Coast Sports. We'll also be visiting
scenes from some of our favorite films - Raiders of the Lost
Ark, Star Wars, Tarzan, Lion King, the French
Connection...well, maybe not the French
Connection...
Tuesday, 8/18 - Halloween - we'll have a morning costume
contest, and afternoon stations that explore the life and lore of
our favorite holiday. Our haunted house is not to be
missed...except by me...too scary...
Wednesday, 8/19 - The Return of Don't Do This At Home
Day - everything that is acceptable at camp...but a big no-no at
home. Graffiti painting, tantrum throwing, food fighting and
the highlight of every summer - the Human Car Wash...
Thursday, 8/20 - Coach Steve's Carnival - throwing,
tossing, dunking, sno cones, balloon animals, prizes... a super way
to wind down the summer...
Friday, 8/21 - Apocalypse Deux - the water war to end
all water wars. We will ring down the curtain on summer 2009
with a dousing that will be remembered all year
long... No one escapes undrenched....

Week 8 - Ready to Explode Week
Monday, 8/10 - CoachSteve's World's Worst Circus - back by
popular demand. Come see the world's shortest giant, weakest
strongman and worst-trained dog act... Learn how to
drop-juggle, walked the low-wire and more... Cirque du Soleil
had better watch out!
Tuesday, 8/11 - The Great Detective Mystery aka The Return of
Doriarty. We know the criminal genius is somewhere on
campus. But where is the question. Help us look for the
answer...
Wednesday, 8/12 - Grand Prix 2009, The Final Lap. Join us
as we break out the go-carts and scooters for one last spin around
the oval.
Thursday, 8/13 - Human Board Games. Tic-Tac-Toe,
Battleship, Twister, Hungry Hungry Hippos, Candy Land, Bingo and
more - you ARE the game.
Friday, 8/14 - Woodstock, Battle of the Bands, Haight Ashbury,
tie-dye and a Human Car Wash. A day 40 years in the
making... Bring something white to dip...
Week 7 - "The Hits Just Keep On Coming" Week
Monday, 8/3 - Riverworld - swim, splash and frolic in our wet
and wild theme park. No better way to beat the heat.
Tuesday - 8/4 - Career Day - what do you want to be when you
grow up? Doctor, lawyer, CIA operative…? We'll be
putting our charges through extensive post-graduate training in a
host of wacky careers (all with pension and health care
benefits). You'll be so proud...
Wednesday, 8/5 - Medieval Times - we'll climb back into the time
machine and emerge at the height of the Middle Ages. Water
jousting, chivalry lessons and eating with fingers - the modern
world doesn't know what it's missing.
Thursday, 8/6 - Campers v Coaches will be the theme of the
day. We've got a very competitive coaching corps but a
supremely capable cadre of campers could take the crown in events
like Water Hoops, Frisbee Baseball and Xtreme Note Holding…
Parents, place your bets…
Friday, 8/7 - Mythology Day will see the return of Zeus,
Athena, Hercules and all those fun-loving Greeks and Romans.
Up for a little Siege of Troy, horse and all? Should be a
toga-clad blast…
Week 6 - Ridiculous & Subline Week
Monday, 7/27 - Retro Recreation - we've got the games of our
urban past - hopscotch, stick ball, scully, double dutch jump rope,
marbles and the lost art of baseball card flipping and
scaling. It's full-speed into the past...
Tuesday, 7/28 - Name That Tune - one of the best days of the
summer will find our campers seeing how fast they can figure out
everything from Take Me Out to the Ballgame to Take Me to the
River... We whip the campers into a musical frenzy...a total
blast!
Wednesday, 7/29 - The SOF (and Rookie) Olympics - nerf javelin
throwing, discus for distance, long jump into the pool, all the
events that should be in the London Olympics of 2012...
Thursday, 7/30 - Games from Around the World - rugby,
escargot, wan tu zum and the national game of Bangladesh,
which happens to be Coach Christian's favorite (yes, even more than
soccer) - kabadi. See why...
Friday, 7/31 - Survivor Brentwood - a yearly favorite as
the campers will engage in challenges and contests that
will test their capacity to laugh and be grossed
out. Guaranteed that no one will be voted off this
island!
Week 5 - Higher, Faster, Wetter Week
Monday, 7/20 - Apollo 11 at 40 (Birthday greetings from the
Moon) - We look back at this moment of supreme achievement and
national exhiliration in our own inimitable way. If anyone
can figure out how to defy gravity - and get wet at the same
time - it's us...
Tuesday, 7/21 - Scaling Mt. Magnet - It's the return of our
climbing wall and the view from the top will take your breath
away...
Wednesday, 7/22 - It's the SOF-Rookie Grand Prix - Careen
around our figure 8 courses at dizzying speeds of up to 2 or 3
mph. Drivers fasten your seatbelts...
Thursday, 7/23 - Don't Do This At Home Day - one of the great
days of the year. Talking with food in your mouth, a tantrum
contest, graffiti painting, crazy hair and nails, a food fight, the
Human Car Wash...and much much more...
Friday, 7/24 - Noah's Ark Water Park - two-by-two they shall
come and partake of our singularly slippery delights... All
aboard!
Week 4 - Something for Everyone Week
Monday, 7/13 - Alien Scavenger Hunt - we know they're out
there... Let's see how many we can find...
Tuesday, 7/14 - All-Star Day - in honor of baseball's 80th
summer classic, we'll be using baseball skills in everything - slip
n sliding into home, frisbee baserunning, soccer baseball..
We'll field a campus full of Hall of Famers...
Wednesday, 7/15 - Harry Potter Day. He's back to save both
the wizarding and Muggle worlds from He Who Must Not Be Named (no,
not Coach Cooper). Quidditch, potions and magic will
abound...
Thursday, 7/16 - 80's Video Games - Not only will the campers
play the games of gaming's infancy, THEY'LL BE THE GAMES.
Human Pac-Man, Space Invaders, Asteroids, Pong...and more...
Friday, 7/17 - Apocalypse, the Water War to End All Water Wars -
Cannons, sprayers, buckets, hoses, sponges, slip n slides, the
pools - no weapon in our H2O arsenal will be spared... Bring
a towel...or three...
Week 3 - Summertime Blues Week
Monday, 7/6 - Cartoon Madness - with events designed
around Sponge Bob, Homer Simpson, Pokemon and Kung Fu Panda,
it will be like sitting at home in front of the TV...but with
action, water and leaping for donuts...it will be a million times
better...
Tuesday, 7/7 - Xtreme Sports - water basketball, pipeline
surfing, pugil sticks, raquet bowling, speed chess... Come
join Coast Sports' own X Games...
Wednesday, 7/8 - So You Think You Can Dance - Our annual limbo,
hip hop and bubblewrap freeze dance contests… There'll be
booty shakin' all day long...
Thursday, 7/9 - It's our Second Annual Theme Park Day.
We'll be recreating favorites from Six Flags, Disneyland, Epcot,
Raging Waters and more… We even washed out the teacups this
year!
Friday, 7/10 - Our trademark celebration of Christmas in July -
it's Snow Day. We've got the hill, we've got the sleds, you
bring the smiles...and mittens.
Week 2 - Red, White and Blue Week
Monday, 6/29 - Rugby, Cricket and Rounders - in our run up to
the 4th of July we begin the week with a celebration of the games
popular on the other side of "the pond." Rounders was an eary
version of the game that became baseball and it will be instantly
familiar to the kids of today. Cricket is the world's 2nd
most popular sport, behind soccer. And rugby has been gaining
a fan foothold here in southern California.
Tuesday, 6/30 - Presidential Scavenger Hunt - sure everyone
knows George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and Barack Obama.
But what do we know about James Monroe, William McKinley and Warren
G. Harding? Find them in the scavenger hunt and you'll
see...
Wednesday, 7/1 - Patriot Games - come join us for our Colonial
Olympics. How fast can Washington cross the Delaware?
Can the cannons of Fort Ticonderoga make it to Boston in time for
the Battle of Bunker (Breed's) Hill? And what would
Betsy Ross's flag have looked like if it had been sewn today?
We'll certainly find out. Also...Colonial Science...the best
the 18th Century had to offer...
Thursday, 7/2 - Coach Steve's Constitutional Convention - we're
going to re-write the document that defined our country...or maybe
just re-fashion the Bill of Rights. Of the kids, by the kids,
for the kids...
Friday, 7/3 - the return of the George Washington Water Slide
and Thomas Jefferson Tie-Dye. Bathing suits are a must.
Also, bring anything white - t-shirts, socks, pillow cases - to
dye. A great way to prepare for the 4th...
Week 1 -
Monday, 6/22 - Off-the-Wall Sports - Water balloon tennis,
raquet bowling, circle rules football, jai alai jr... We'll
be setting the standard for the wackiness to come...
Tuesday, 6/23 - SOF University - check out all the life lessons
our kids won't be getting in school...
Wednesday, 6/24 - The Magnet 500 - breaking out our go-carts and
scooters, the kids will be achieving astouding speeds of 2-3
mph... Whoa!
Thursday, 6/25 - Spies Like Us - it's James Bond meets Spy
Kids. No secret is safe!
Friday, 6/26 - Star Trek and the Vulcan Car Wash - these are the
voyages of the Starship SOF. To go boldly where no camper has
gone before. Don't miss out!
