Mere moments ago we were welcoming in 2014 and now…somehow…we’re shaking hands with March. Don’t look now but summer is coming up the street. The burning question, “what are you gonna do with your kids?” Let Coast Sports suggest an answer…

Presenting Summer of Fun and Rookie Camp 2014. Nine inspired and glorious weeks of kid-created, coach-abetted fun. Sports, games, arts & crafts, contests, food fights, water parks…and ice cream.

It is our mission to empower kids by providing a nurturing and supportive setting in which they have choice. If they want to enhance their skills in an area in which they are already passionate, we’ve got the staff to encourage that. If their whim is to bounce from soccer to arts & crafts to hockey, we’re set up for that as well. We ask the question, “if we were kids (which we basically still are), what would we want to do” and go from there.

So if you can imagine a schoolyard transformed into a Quidditch stadium or the pyramid-inhabited Valley of the Kings or a grand prix track, then you can begin to see the magic your child will experience every day.

The Summer of Fun day……

Your kids will scurry past you as you come through the Brentwood Magnet arch. You’ll sign them in (between 9:15 and 9:30) and then if you’ve opted to enjoy “hot lunch,” you’ll try to put the wristband on them while they squirm to get away without saying goodbye. Supervised free play occupies the next twenty minutes until we convene as a camp at the lunch area tables where our day actually begins. After running through our litany of security and bathroom instructions, we talk about the day and its historical or cultural context (July 2 – the reading of the Declaration of Independence to the Continental Congress), the theme around which our afternoon’s activities will revolve (Survivor Brentwood, Don’t Do This at Home Day, or Halloween). Our daily “contest” is next. Continuous talking, blindfolded balancing, wide-eyed staring, earlobe stretching, grotesque laughing, breath holding, whining and pleading and yes, even burping. Anyone who wants to step up and give it a whirl is more than welcome and it’s the voice of the people that crowns our champion.

We break off into our morning activities, five or six of which are offered every day. A sample morning could include soccer, basketball, home run derby, scooter hockey, tennis and arts & crafts. Before lunch we regroup on the field for a round of dodgeball, played with our giant soccer ball. Lunch (where we re-slather the sunscreen) and a short free play (where handball and carom games are the rage) lead into our afternoon activity, ultra water fights and ice cream sundaes. At pick-up time it is impossible to dislodge your damp and happy children so bring your sneakers and join them in a game of handball. You won’t want to leave either.

The heart of our program has always been our superlative staff. Coaches Christian and Tracey, the Coopers (big and little), Matt, Beto, Ricky, Deborah, Eve, Morgan, Clara, Grady and Jordan – all are coming back. Every coach knows every kid which makes the summer feel like a grand, all-inclusive family reunion.

2014 DATES, RATES AND REGISTRATION

Summer of Fun and Rookie Camp will be held from Wednesday, June 11 – Thursday, August 7. There will be NO camp on Friday, July 4th.

The Summer of Fun camp day runs from 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Rookie Camp also begins at 9:30. But you may pick your child up at either 1:00 p.m. or 3:30 p.m. You can register in advance for the release time you would like or you can choose when you arrive at camp in morning.

RATES

Summer of Fun costs $75/day.

Rookie Camp is $55/day for 1:00 p.m. pickup or $75/day for 3:30 pickup.

You may register for one day, 40 days or any number in between.

Hot lunch is available (see our menu) for a daily fee of $7.

A $250 deposit per child is required with the application. The deposit will be applied against your total registration. Enrollment is taken on a first come, first served basis. You will receive confirmation by e-mail when your child is enrolled.

ENROLLMENT OPTIONS

EARLY BIRD ENROLLMENT

If you register and PAY IN FULL BY APRIL 30th, you will qualify for the 10% Early Bird Enrollment SAVINGS!! If you register your child AFTER April 30th regular prices will apply.

SIBLING DISCOUNTS

Additional children in the same family receive a 5% Sibling Discount. The discount is offered on the smallest enrollment and tuition is not discounted for the first camper in the family.

10 DAY DROP-IN PACKAGE

Sign up for this package and come to any 10 days of camp. Decide in advance or arrive on a whim. Only one package per child. Package must be paid in full at time of registration
Summer of Fun – $700
Rookie Camp – $520 (1 p.m. pickup). $20/day additional till 3:30 p.m.

Availability: Limited.

Restrictions: No Early Bird Discount. 5% Sibling Discount applicable. One package per camper. Package must be used by purchased camper only. No exchanges or trades to family members or friends. No refunds or credits. Package is for summer of 2013 only.

15 DAY DROP-IN PACKAGE

Sign up for this package and come to any 15 days of camp. Decide in advance or arrive on a whim. Package must be paid in full at time of registration.
Summer of Fun – $1020
Rookie Camp – $755 (1 p.m. pickup). $20/day additional till 3:30 p.m.

SCHEDULE CHANGES, ABSENCES AND MAKE-UP DAYS

We recognize that for many families scheduling summer activities has become a puzzle with many interlocking pieces. We are committed to helping you find the solution that works for you. If you want to change or add days just go to the website, log in and edit your account (see SCHEDULE CHANGE instructions). If you would like us to do it, that’s fine.

Flexibility has always been our middle name. But courtesy is a two-way street.

FOR LAST MINUTE CHANGES AND ABSENCES WE ASK THAT YOU CALL OR EMAIL US NO LATER THAN 9 A.M. OF THE DAY IN QUESTION.

IF YOU DON’T CONTACT US BY 9 A.M. WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SCHEDULE A MAKE-UP.

REFUND POLICY

Prior to June 1st all fees are refundable. After June 1st and before the first day of camp, all fees will be refunded minus the $250.00 Per Child Deposit. After the start of camp, given adequate notice, we will work with you to come up with a fair and equitable resolution. With no notice, there’s nothing we can do.
